About me
The central idea of my sustained investigation surrounds the questions of "What does it mean to be female?" and "How do I show the duality and complexity of the female?". My work focuses on the female figure with source photographs taken of women I know personally. By use of color and pattern, each of my paintings represents a different expression or mood. Each of the women I paint addresses either an aspect or stereotype of women. I play with shadows and lighting to capture unique aspects of the subject’s appearance, while also expressing emotion or drama. The purpose of my work is to represent the diverse capabilities that women embody.
